7 things + Sephora’s VIB Beauty Insider Sale
Advice + Thoughts

7 things + Sephora’s VIB Beauty Insider Sale

April 20, 2018

Happy Friday! I wanted to share 7 things I learned this week – it was originally going to be 5 but I decided on 7 instead. 🙂 I’m still living that funemployed life and I’m spending so much time with myself – which I absolutely love because it gives me so much time to think. You learn a lot about yourself when you’re spending 15+ hours alone every day. It’s interesting to see how you you choose to spend your time and what makes you happy.

  1. Cooking every meal for yourself feels good..like really good. I love going out to eat and trying the newest spot around the city, but it’s $$. I was a bit extreme the first few weeks after I lost my job (only eating 99 cent cans of tuna and pasta), but I’ve gotten back on track and actually went to Whole Foods this weekend and bought some real groceries. I’ve been all about meal prepping and I’ve been feeling so much healthier. It’s important to know what’s going in your body and I feel so much better not eating out all the time.
  2. Money won’t make you happy. I never thought I would say this..but it’s the truth. Obviously I’m not saying I don’t need money, let’s not get crazy. I know money is a sensitive topic for some so I’ll try to be mindful of that. We all have different perceptions of money and how much we need to be happy, etc. Lately my mindset has been to be more mindful and be sure I’m focused on what really matters. Tomorrow is never promised and we only have one life – I want to make sure I’m spending my time valuing what’s truly important.
  3. Exercise is king. Can anyone say booty gains?! I’ve been working out every single day in April and I’m feeling so great! I keep telling CJ this is the year of the 6 pack, we’ll see if I ever get there. 😉 Being able to spend 1-2 hours a day at the gym to disconnect and focus on my body has been amazing! Somedays when I’m just not feeling it I still make myself go for at least 30 minutes. It’s all about making the time for it and creating a routine.  It’s not even about the physical results – because honestly, I haven’t noticed a difference yet, but my attitude and energy level is so much better! Exercise is truly the best medicine.
  4. You don’t need as much as you think. I’ve been living the most minimal lifestyle and I’ve never been happier. Don’t get me wrong, I still love shopping – hence all the sales I’m about to share with you guys! 😉 But I spend a bit more time thinking about the things I buy.
  5. Meditate. This is so so hard but so ridiculously important. I’ve meditated a few times this week and it’s still super hard for me to focus, but i’m getting better. It’s such an amazing way to reset your mind. We often forget that our minds need a break too.
  6. Everyone is fighting their own battle. Obviously I know this, but I think you notice it more when you aren’t focused on your own problems.  I’ve had multiple friends come to me this past week to talk about their personal issues. I knew some of them were struggling and others I had no idea. It’s so important to be kind and treat everyone with the same love you give your best friend or your sister. We are all going through something and everyone is fighting their own battle. Just because someone doesn’t share their struggles, doesn’t mean they don’t have them.  Be there for people, listen to them, and genuinely try to help them. You’re not always going to have the right answer or know what to say, but listening goes a long way.
  7. Sharing 7 huge sales this week! 🙂 and my 7 favorite items from each store!

Kohls: Take 15% off with the code FLOWER15. Valid 4/16-4/22. Love the Lauren Conrad line at Kohls! Everything is so feminine! I’ve been buying things from LC’s line since high school.

Sephora VIB + Beauty Insiders Sale:  definitely one of my favorite sales! I always look forward to restocking on essentials and trying out new products that i’ve been eyeing. The sale is live through 4/20-4/23. All VIB members receive 15% off, and Beauty Insider members will receive 10% off. I’m sharing the essentials that are in my cart and the new products i’m excited to try!

Essentials I’m Buying Again:

Fresh Rose Hydration Cream – I have been using this all winter and I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon. I absolutely love the smell of this cream and it leaves my skin feeling so smooth. I put this on before I go to bed and if my skin is feeling extra dry I mix in a little Seaberry Oil. I used to think that oils and hydration were so bad for my skin – I would have a breakout and cover my face in benzoyl peroxide and my skin would get so dry and flaky – now moisture is my BFF and I do everything I can to make sure my skin stays as hydrated as possible.
Dior Lip Glow – I’ve been using this since lsat summer and it’s so hydrating! I love the light pink one for days that I just want some moister but not much color. They are great for enhancing your natural lip color.
Laura Mercier Translucent Powder – this has been a staple in my routine for years now! I use this every day. If I need a bit more coverage or I know i’ll be out all day and night I add a little bit of Veil Setting Powder – I literally wear this whenever I go dancing or when it’s super humid and my face never sweats! I use the Veil Powder Brush to apply and it feels like a dream. The brush is dual sided so let’s you get into those harder to reach places, like underneath your eyes.
dPurity Face Wash – I have SUPER sensitive, dry skin and this face wash works wonders for me. It takes off waterproof mascara without over-drying my skin! And it doesn’t break me out! I’ve been using it for 3 years.
Fresh Seaberry Oil – LOVE this! I’ve been using this for about 4 years now and I love it! I get the mini size for when I travel.
Sugar Lip Balm – this is a must for summer! I love carrying this everywhere – they have SPF which is a huge plus and are super hydrating! My favorite colors are rose and petal.

Products I’m Trying:

Every few months I get a little bored with my skin care routine and look to try new products. Lately, I’ve been hearing so many great things about Drunk Elephant and I’m so excited to try a few of their products.
The TLC Sakari Babyfacial is an ‘at home facial’ that contains 25 % AHA and a combination of other acids that help to resurface and exfoliate the skin. I’m a huge fan of facials so I’m excited to see how well this products works and how it compares to the real thing.  The Polypeptide Creme and Vitamin C Day Serum are both very hydrating and help to brighten and moisture the skin. I have a lot of sun damage and hyper-pigmentation and I’m always interested in trying products that help combat the effects of the sun.

What gets you more excited, beauty products or makeup? I love both but really enjoy a good morning and nigh-time face routine!

Happy Shopping!! Xx

Experiences > Things If you want to travel more Experiences > Things

If you want to travel more in 2024, now is a great time to start. Shift the holiday focus from gifts under the tree and prioritize experiences that allow you to create new memories together

Experience based gifts have always been important to us. We’ve been traveling together for 6+ years and experiencing things together is by far our favorite way to spend time together. Together we’ve explored ~14 countries and grown both individually and as a couple

Finding ways to save where we can is huge. We don’t have the desire to buy new things all the time. I also take advantage of credit cards, travel deals, and stack rewards (ex: a majority of our flights are booked with points). I have a free guide packed with lots of info to help you travel more for less

Which do you value more, experiences or things? 💭

✨ Comment GUIDE and i’ll DM you my free travel guide that’s packed with the tips i’ve learned over the years to make travel more affordable

I can’t be the only one like this… If you me I can’t be the only one like this…

If you mention going on a trip around me, you better be ready to follow through

📍What’s the most spontaneous trip you’ve ever booked?

Story time: Last week my friend called me and said she had to spend $150 on United if she wanted to hit status for 2024. That reminded me that I had $400 in credit to use by the end of the year, so I jokingly said “should we meet up somewhere?”

Long story short, by the end of the day we had hotel, flights, and dinner reservations booked and now i’m in Vegas for my last (spontaneous) trip of 2023 💃

Friends who book the flights are my favorite 🫶🏼
