Hotel Spotlight: The Luxurious Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort

October 17, 2019

I don’t think I’ve ever stayed in a hotel quite like the Andaz Maui. Where the Pacific Ocean greets you from the moment you arrive in the lobby. Upon arrival, you’re greeted with a beautiful flower lei and walk through the hallway to heaven. Or the modern archway leading to the open reception area, whatever you want to call it.

I heard so much about the Andaz pools and was so excited to see the infamous pools cascading down to the ocean. Everything feels very high end,  yet still very friendly and welcoming. I love everything about this hotel’s aesthetic – it was chic and minimal with light woods, whites, and bright light. It was perfect.

We stayed in the king ocean view room that had its own lawn little lawn, a rain shower concealed by sliding doors that opened to allow you to overlook the ocean. We were on the first floor so maybe we shouldn’t have opened up the shower doors, but we couldn’t miss the view. 😉
If you know me, you know I’m all about good food. I’m not used to eating every meal at the hotel, but when there are restaurants and chefs onsite that have won numerous awards you have to check it out. Ka’ana Kitchen is one of those restaurants that has won a few awards, with its open kitchen concept, incredible chefs, and impeccable design it’s a must. I loved the breakfast buffet, which had various food stations and a freshly squeezed juice bar. One of my favorite meals they serve at dinner is the scallop risotto – it’s incredible. I did notice that meals on this side of the island were a bit more expensive, so just be mindful of that.

Resort Fee: Keep in mind there is a daily resort fee of $48 + tax. This may seem a little hefty, they offer great amenities to amplify your experience. We took advantage of this by checking out the weekly fitness schedule and joining morning yoga classes. I’d definitely recommend the mixology class – it looked so fun but we didn’t have time. A few of the other perks are below:

  • GoPro HERO 5 cameras (unlimited use)
  • GoPro Experience Lab
  • Daily Outrigger Canoe excursions
  • Snorkel Equipment – Unlimited Use
  • Yoga and Pilates Classes
  • Sunset Guided Meditation
  • Single & Tandem Bikes/helmets
  • Guided Kayak Tours
  • Ukulele Lessons
  • Hula Lessons
  • Coconut Husking
  • Celestial Nights Stargazing
  • Sealife Exploration with Maui Ocean Center
  • 45-minute beach portrait session with Pacific Dream Photography
  • Lei Making Lessons
  • Stand Up Paddle Board Lessons
  • Mixology Class with 2 drinks (twice a week)

Thanks to Andaz Maui for our incredible stay!

Experiences > Things If you want to travel more Experiences > Things

If you want to travel more in 2024, now is a great time to start. Shift the holiday focus from gifts under the tree and prioritize experiences that allow you to create new memories together

Experience based gifts have always been important to us. We’ve been traveling together for 6+ years and experiencing things together is by far our favorite way to spend time together. Together we’ve explored ~14 countries and grown both individually and as a couple

Finding ways to save where we can is huge. We don’t have the desire to buy new things all the time. I also take advantage of credit cards, travel deals, and stack rewards (ex: a majority of our flights are booked with points). I have a free guide packed with lots of info to help you travel more for less

Which do you value more, experiences or things? 💭

✨ Comment GUIDE and i’ll DM you my free travel guide that’s packed with the tips i’ve learned over the years to make travel more affordable

If you mention going on a trip around me, you better be ready to follow through

📍What’s the most spontaneous trip you’ve ever booked?

Story time: Last week my friend called me and said she had to spend $150 on United if she wanted to hit status for 2024. That reminded me that I had $400 in credit to use by the end of the year, so I jokingly said “should we meet up somewhere?”

Long story short, by the end of the day we had hotel, flights, and dinner reservations booked and now i’m in Vegas for my last (spontaneous) trip of 2023 💃

Friends who book the flights are my favorite 🫶🏼
