If you read yesterday’s Life Update post, you could probably imagine that I’m living my life by quotes right now – thank you Pinterest. I came across a quote that said “No risk. No reward.” But what about everything else that comes with that risk that blinds us from seeing the reward? Taking big risks is great and even exciting, but what about the fear, anxiety, stress that comes along with that risk?
If you’re going through a point if your life where there is change, let’s talk about it! Maybe you’re moving to a new city, ending a bad relationship, starting a new job, thinking about quitting your job, moving out of your parent’s house, or a million other things. Whatever it is – it’s probably scary and you’re feeling like it’s not the right time. But I promise you that you can do it. You will do it. And it will be OK. The hardest part is making the decision to do it and just doing it. It will all come together. You’ll never grow if you confuse that comfort with happiness.
Always go with the choice that scares you the most, because that’s the one that’s going to help you grow.
Deciding to start my blog was definitely terrifying. When I started it a few years ago I ended up taking a long break because I was so nervous to see my ‘pins’ being re-pinned on Pinterest. I’m putting out photos of myself, my words and my thoughts that anyone can just pick apart. It’s uncomfortable and vulnerable. There are hours of work that go unnoticed and there are rude comments all the time. But it’s taught me a few things about getting out of your comfort zone.

Believe in Yourself + Have a Vision
First things first, change is hard. Understand that from the beginning and be ready to push through hard times. You need to believe in yourself. Create a plan and visualize what you want the final outcome to look it. Having a clear vision will help you keep yourself accountable and make sure you stay on track.
Make a List
I live by to-do lists and my calendar. Block out certain times of the day to focus on your goals. Write them down and give yourself realistic steps that follow a timeline. If you don’t do this you’ll get stuck and never make any progress.
Have a buddy
Don’t do it alone. Have someone to hold you accountable. It could be a family member, a friend, or a colleague. Just have someone to talk to that you trust, will give you good advice and will hold you accountable. I always find it so much easier when you talk about it.
Walk Away From bad vibes
Prepare for some haters. There are always going to be people that don’t support you or have something mean to say. Don’t let negative people ruin your goals.
Just do it
If you’ve spent weeks, or even months thinking about doing this ‘thing’ then JUST DO IT! What are you waiting for? Is it scary? Hard? Uncomfortable? You bet it is! But if it doesn’t make you happy and if it’s not a HELL YES then it’s time to make the move! If you still can’t beat the fear, then do it scared. But just do it.
Think about this. When was the last time you went after something that you didn’t eventually achieve?
What was the last thing you’ve done that got you out of your comfort zone? How did you feel? I’d love to hear your stories! Leave a comment below!
